How Car Key Replacement Works

1. Call with your vehicle's year, make, and model, and tell us whether you still have a working key.
2. We verify ownership with your ID and the registration or title.
3. We cut a new key from the vehicle's key code or by decoding a lock.
4. We program the key to your vehicle and test starting, locking, and unlocking.
5. On many vehicles, we also erase the lost keys from the car's memory so they can no longer start it.

Locksmith or Dealership?

Dealerships can make keys, but you usually have to get the car to them, and the key may need to be ordered. A mobile locksmith comes to you and typically carries key blanks and programming equipment for the most common vehicles. For many drivers that means less hassle, no tow bill, and a lower total cost. Some newer or specialty vehicles still require dealer-only keys, and if yours is one of them, we'll tell you up front.
