How Rekeying Works

A standard pin tumbler lock opens when the right key lifts a row of small pins to exactly the right height. When we rekey, we remove the cylinder, take out the old pins, and install new pins that match a new key. From the outside the lock looks and works exactly the same, but the old keys no longer line up and won't turn it. The work happens right at your door, and we cut your new keys on-site.

When to Rekey Your Locks

• You just bought a home. Previous owners, builders, contractors, and real estate agents may all have had keys.
• A tenant, roommate, or former partner moved out.
• Keys were lost or stolen, especially along with anything showing your address.

Rekey or Replace?

If your locks work smoothly and you like the way they look, rekeying is almost always the better value, because you're paying for new pins and labor instead of new hardware.
